Candle care
- Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before every burn. A shorter wick = a steadier flame and less soot.
- Clear debris. No matches, wick trimmings, or dust in the wax pool — they can affect the scent throw and flame height.
- Place on a heat-safe surface. Candles get hot — protect your shelves and tables.
- Let it melt evenly. On your first burn, let the wax reach all edges of the jar (usually 2–3 hours). This prevents tunneling.
- Don’t burn more than 4 hours at a time. Long burns can overheat the jar and shorten the candle’s life.
- Keep away from drafts. Moving air can cause uneven burning and flickering.
- Extinguish gently. Use a snuffer or dip the wick into the wax, then straighten it. Blowing can cause smoke or wax splatter.
- Let it cool fully before moving the jar.
- Repurpose the jar. When there’s around half an inch of wax left, freeze the jar for a few hours, pop the wax out, and peel off the wick tab. Don’t pour wax down the sink—it’ll solidify and block your drain. Rinse the jar with warm, soapy water and let it dry. The amber glass makes a great home for matches, pens, or whatever odds and ends you’ve got lying around.
